Shangri-La always go that extra mile to make you feel welcome and most importantly to make you feel special. Like always staying at Shangri-La never disappoints; instead, there’re always surprises that keep me wanting to come back. I had such a great time staying at the Shangri-La Singapore for Christmas this year. Did you know that Shangri-La Singapore is actually the first Shangri-La in the world? The hotel is absolutely beautiful and luxurious, the location is especially lure for any first timers to Singapore. It’s only a 15-minute walking distance to the infamous Orchard Street, be ready to shop until you drop. Shangri-La is known for its service, and most will find that the Singapore location really lives up to the expectations. This is the type of place where the details make all the difference, from the signature Shangri-La scent wafting through the interiors to the welcome drinks await guests in the lobby while they check in.

There are total of three wings on the property, and I am staying at the Tower Wing in the Horizon Deluxe Room with a breath-taking view overseeing the city. The Garden Wing features a tropical escape with exotic plants, waterfalls, and a koi pond. I have to admit it’s the most photogenic spot in the hotel (see photographs). The Valley Wing is the most luxurious, rumor has it that it even includes all-day champagne.

The room decor has a slight oriental feel to it: all the furnitures including the bed frames are in sleek wood finish, separate tubs and showers in the all-marble bathrooms and transparent wardrobes (my favorite). If you watched my Instagram stories you would remember how much I loved the beautiful see-through wardrobe. Only in Shangri-La Hotel you can see such a common space converted into something to elegant and sophisticated. The transparent wardrobe also helps to open up the space to make the room look more expansive. The hotel also prepared Christmas treats and fruit platter upon my arrival to make my stay extra cozy and homely.

Booking a Horizon Deluxe room also gives you access and a private check-in experience at the Horizon Club Lounge. Designed by the renowned Japanese designer Hirotoshi Sawada, the Horizon Club offers plenty of space and seating configurations that cater to different travelers’ needs, from family to simply solo traveler such as myself. The club also offers daily complimentary breakfast (6am to 10:30am Monday to Friday and 6am to 11am Saturday, Sunday), complimentary Afternoon Tea (2pm to 4pm), and cocktails and canapés served every evening (5pm to 8pm).

Another must-visit landmark at Shangri-La is the Orchid garden, a 7-meter-tall greenhouse housing various orchids (See photograph) and if you are lucky you might see the Shangri-La orchid, produced specifically for the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore. The Orchid garden is also part of an Orchid tour around the beautiful gardens available to all guests to explore. You can also book the Orchid garden for a private dinner party up to four people.

Thank you Shangri-La Singapore for making my holiday this year extra special. I look forward to being back in no time! If you have any questions regarding to my stay, feel free to leave me a comment below :)
